The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services said the governor's All Kids plan gives families health care at reasonable prices.
The state said as of December of previous year, more than 250,000 kids in Illinois didn't have health insurance.
Since then, it said more than 65,000 kids are now covered through the All Kids plan.
"This is a way that we can help them get covered so they can succeed and learn, it's really an investment in our future," said Cristal Thomas, Assistant Director of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services.
The plan is open to Illinois children under the age of 18.
